I’m back in France and having a fun time trend shopping. Fashion is not only in the stores, but on the sidewalks too! Just taking a quick look around, I see many Parisian girls wearing scarves, hats, fitted coats, leggings, and muted colors. It is a very sophisticated yet casual type look with loose, fun hair styles as well.

How To Shop With Your Daughter
by Lizzie Bell on August 24th, 2010
Hi Emily West friends! Lizzie Bell’s mom here. It always a fun experience to go shopping with Lizzie. I have learned to be patient, observe, and try on everything.
Take Your Time
For starters, take your time and be patient. Lizzie strolls when she shops, she does not move fast. She takes in everything she can while walking through the mall and then points out what stores she wants to spend some time in. We go back to those stores.
I’ve learned to just stay in the back ground and watch as she moves from one end of the store to the other, very slowly. She does one round of the store to take in everything she can and then goes back to the pieces she wants to examine further, touch, try on, etc.
Shopping for her is a process, watching her is like watching someone savor a delicate dessert. She is enjoying her day, she is learning what she likes, she is taking in what is attractive to her eye and feels it is okay to be who she is at that moment.
Her methods have forced me (as a mom) to slow down, really allow my daughter to dictate an adventure. I’ve seen the insides of stores I would have never gone into, my girls have tried on things I would have never given a second glance.
I’ve spent money on things I would have never considered, but pieces that were excellent choices for Lizzie’s height, weight, size.
Matchup: What To Wear With A Pink Plaid Sundress?
by Zoe Smith on August 17th, 2010
Hi fashionistas! Zoe here! My big news is that my charity, Heifer International, is only $2,000 away from my 2010 goal of raising another $5,000 this year. If I succeed, that will be a total of $20,000 raised over four years to help end world hunger!
I’ve been doing a lot of sales all summer. I was lucky to score being able to sell my jewelry at the indoor University of North Carolina Hospital Farmer’s market. Customers have been snapping up my handmade jewelry at these sales. They are buying earrings and bracelets, in lots of bright and metallic colors. For Fall, I’m working on bracelets done with tiny colored seed beads mixed with larger, sparkling crystal beads.

Inspiration is Everywhere
When I take a trip to the zoo, I love looking at all the fun animals but I also learn from them! Many of my designs are inspired by zebra stripes, leopard prints or even giraffe spots! Patterned material is an eye catcher. Read the rest of this entry »
Fall Fashion Trends for Girls
by Kaylyn Sans on August 9th, 2010
Hi! This is Emily’s BFF Kaylyn Sans. I’ve been modeling a lot this summer and got to shoot in beautiful locations all around New York. One of my favorite locations was the Adirondacks Mountain Region.
I’ve also been busy helping my school with a fundraiser for a little boy who has a rare type of cancer. We raised over $60,000 for his family which, among other things, enabled his family to take him to Disney World. I was very glad to be able to volunteer my time.
In terms of fashion, I previewed some fun accessories and fashion trends you will likely see in stores this fall. Keep an eye out for…

Thanks Katrina! You can definitely still look fashionable while at camp!
Four Tips For Girls To Get More Out Of That Summer Outift
by Lizzie Bell on July 29th, 2010
Hi girls! Lizzie Bell, here, one of Emily’s BFF’s! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! I was just in Boston and Martha’s Vineyard trend shopping. Below are some tips and observations I had while on my shopping adventures:
- Combine bling with frills. I saw lots of trend-right apparel combining sparkle (a touch) and thin, faint ribbons of lace or gathered see-through material
- Look for a simple use of color. For the summer season I especially like pale colors, with light whites; navy with light colors and lollipop greens

Fashion Fun in the Sun
I am trend shopping in the Caribbean this week! The clothing style here is very light-weight and fun. I am seeing a lot of long tiered skirts, bright colors and thin material. Avoiding thicker fabrics is a must in this climate.
Going on a cruise soon? Here are some suggestions of girls clothing to bring…
Summer Trends: Rompers and Floral Prints
by Design Team on July 23rd, 2010
It is definitely “Romper Room” time! The biggest trend item in the streets of NY and LA are rompers. This summer, even celebrities have been spotted out and about in feminine floral romper sets. These eye-catching prints are perfect for hot summer days and easily transition from play time to party time.
Rompers come in an array of patterns and sizes, with delicate ditsy-florals or chintz-inspired motifs on top, followed by denim. Versatile florals in all versions create a care-free, summer look.
