Lizzie Bell is one of just 700 people in the world a rare blood disease called Diamond Blackfan Anemia. As a result, she I must have a blood transfusion every couple of weeks. "I'm alive because people like you who continue to donate blood. But I'm not the only child in need of blood. There are many children who need blood transfusions because of burns, injuries, and surgeries. The donation of one pint of blood from one adult will save up to three lives. You can help by donating blood at your local Red Cross Donor Center. Make sure to tell them that you're donating in honor of Lizzie Bell. Everyone will thank you for your kindness and generosity!"
Spending so much time in hospitals during the past 15 years also gave Lizzie a clear view of the things that kids need to make them more comfortable and less fearful while they're in the hospital. Lizzie recently wrote a children's book entitled X…which will be arriving in book stores and online later this year.
Lizzie loves to help others but one of her other true passions is for fashion! Lizzie can often be found working on dress designs and has a special part of her room especially sketching designs.
